Role Purpose: Assist with deck operations, navigation, cargo handling, and overall vessel maintenance to ensure safe, secure, and environmentally compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in navigation, cargo and ballast handling, mooring, and anchoring operations. Carry out deck maintenance and housekeeping as assigned while ensuring equipment readiness. Comply with safety, environmental, and security procedures and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Knowledge: The Ordinary Seaman must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Key knowledge areas include the Theory and Practice of Seamanship, emergency procedures, risk assessment, and hazard identification. Essential areas also include maintenance tasks, use of gas monitoring equipment, operating deck machinery, and waste management practices.
Essential Skills and Abilities: Effective communication and reporting skills are essential for the Ordinary Seaman, along with the ability to operate, maintain, and assist in repairing deck equipment. Proficiency in anchoring, mooring, and ropework, including knots and splices, is crucial. Strong time management skills, resource prioritization, and a commitment to high standards of cosmetic maintenance and housekeeping are also required.
Experience: Demonstrates reliability and effectiveness as a member of the deck crew, with a strong record in deck operations, including the use of deck machinery and cargo handling. Maintains the deck in good working condition, ensuring cosmetic maintenance standards are met. Shows seamanship skills, including proficiency in rope work and handling various types of lines, cables, and wires.
