Recruitment of Indian Deck Cadets
– DNS (August 2026–2027 Batch)

This is with reference to the proposed recruitment of Indian Deck Cadets for the 2026–2027 (August batch).  All concerned are requested to review the information carefully and share the required details as applicable.

Academic Qualifications

• Candidates must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with a minimum of 70% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and 60% marks in English.
• Students who have appeared for 12^th standard in the year 2025/2026 and 10^th standard in the year 2023/2024 are eligible to apply.

Physical Standards:

To be declared fit for selection, a candidate must be in good mental and physical health and be free from any deficiency that may interfere with the efficient performance of duties, as per the medical standards laid down by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India.

Candidates applying for the DNS (IMU) Programme must meet the following minimum visual standards:

• Eyesight: 6/6 vision in both eyes (unaided)
• Colour Vision: Colour blindness is not permitted

Medical fitness must be certified exclusively by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Step 1 – Scorpio Student Information Form

Candidates are requested to fill in the form and submit it on or before 20^th May 2026, along with 12th Standard marks.

Step 2 – DNS‑IMU CET Application

Candidates are required to apply for the DNS‑IMU CET 2026 by filling in the application form as per the instructions issued by Indian Maritime University (IMU) and prepare for the IMU CET examination.

Commencement of the DNS August batch : 3rd Aug 2026

NOTE – For DNS course, the CET Rank certificate will be valid for Aug 2026 and Feb 2027 batch.

There will be no separate IMU CET for Feb 2027 DNS Admission. Hence candidates desirous of getting admission in DNS Feb batch 2027 should mandatorily register for IMU CET 2026.

Cost of One‑Year Pre‑Sea Training – Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS):

For the batch commencing August 2026, all‑inclusive cost for the one‑year Pre‑Sea Diploma in Nautical Science training—covering tuition fees, boarding, lodging, uniform, and other applicable charges—will be announced in due course.

Please note that the entire cost of the training will be borne by the candidate. Under DG Shipping regulations, DNS Sponsorship only guarantees berth and shipboard training.
